Bali tour package or DIY? Costs compared

A 6-day Bali package from India costs about ₹45,000–₹90,000 per person; planning it yourself costs about ₹40,000–₹75,000. Cost table, visa and levy, a side-by-side comparison and a 6-day plan.

The short answer: a 6-day Bali tour package from India usually costs about ₹45,000–₹90,000 per person, including flights, hotels or a pool villa, transfers and a couple of tours. Planning Bali yourself costs roughly ₹40,000–₹75,000 per person for the same trip. Bali is very easy to do independently: hiring a car with a driver for the day is cheap, stays are plentiful, and visa on arrival is simple. Packages mainly save you research time.

All prices are approximate, per person, for two people sharing. Check the official pages for the current visa and tourist levy amounts.

What a typical Bali package includes

  • Return flights, often via Singapore or Kuala Lumpur (direct flights exist on some routes).
  • 5 nights split between Kuta/Seminyak and Ubud, sometimes one night in a private pool villa.
  • Airport transfers and 2–3 tours: Ubud (rice terraces, monkey forest, a temple), Kintamani, and a Nusa Penida day trip or a water-sports package.
  • Breakfast daily; sometimes a candlelight dinner for honeymooners.

Getting around Shared tour vehicles Private car and driver, or a scooter if you're confident

Best for Honeymooners who want everything arranged Couples and friends happy to plan

Who should pick which

  • Pick a package if you have only 5–6 days and want a pool villa, transfers and honeymoon extras arranged in one booking.
  • Go DIY if you want to choose your own villa in Ubud, see Lempuyang or Sidemen without a fixed group, or spend more time on Nusa Penida or the Gili Islands.

A sample 6-day DIY plan

  1. Day 1: Land at Denpasar, transfer to Seminyak. Sunset at a beach club or Tanah Lot.
  2. Day 2: Uluwatu temple, the cliffs and the Kecak fire dance at sunset.
  3. Day 3: Move to Ubud: Tegallalang rice terraces, the Monkey Forest, Ubud market.
  4. Day 4: Day with a driver: Tirta Empul, a coffee plantation, Kintamani views of Mt Batur.
  5. Day 5: Early boat to Nusa Penida: Kelingking, Broken Beach, Crystal Bay.
  6. Day 6: Slow morning, spa, then the airport.

Tips

  • April–October is the dry season; December–February is wet but greener and cheaper.
  • Traffic between Kuta, Seminyak and Ubud is slow. Plan one area per day.
  • Pay the Bali tourist levy online before you fly to save time at the airport.
  • Cover shoulders and knees at temples; sarongs are usually provided or rented at the gate.
  • Nusa Penida roads are rough; go with a local driver rather than riding a scooter.

FAQ

How much does a Bali trip from India cost?

About ₹40,000–₹90,000 per person for 6 days, depending on the season, the villa and whether you take a package.

Do Indians need a visa for Bali?

Indians can get a visa on arrival at Bali airport or apply for the e-VOA online before travelling. There is also a separate Bali tourist levy.

Is a Bali package worth it?

It's worth it if you value convenience; if you're comfortable booking a villa and a driver, DIY gives you more freedom for a similar price.
