Egypt e-Visa for Indians
By Ganesh ·
How Indians get an Egypt tourist e-visa on visa2egypt.gov.eg: fee, stay, documents, who gets a visa on arrival, and trip tips.
Indians can apply for an Egypt tourist e-visa online on the government's official portal, visa2egypt.gov.eg, before travelling. A single-entry e-visa costs about US$25 and allows a stay of up to 30 days; a multiple-entry option costs more. Approval usually comes by email within a few working days, and you print it and show it on arrival. Indians who hold a valid US, UK or Schengen visa may also qualify for a visa on arrival at Egyptian airports, but the e-visa is the simpler route for most people.
E-visa at a glance (approximate)
| Type | Fee | Stay |
|---|---|---|
| Single entry | About US$25 | Up to 30 days |
| Multiple entry | About US$60 | Up to 30 days per visit, within the validity |
Check the fee and conditions on visa2egypt.gov.eg when you apply. Avoid look-alike websites that charge a large "service fee" for the same visa.

Planning tips for Indians
Most flights from India connect through the Gulf (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat) or fly direct from Mumbai or Delhi on some routes. A typical first trip is 8 days: Cairo and Giza, a night train or flight to Aswan, a Nile cruise or felucca to Luxor, then back to Cairo.
October to April is the comfortable season. Summer in Luxor and Aswan regularly goes above 40°C.
Carry some US dollars or euros for tips and small payments; Egyptian pounds are best bought on arrival at bank counters or ATMs.
