The short answer: a 4-night Goa package usually costs about ₹15,000–₹35,000 per person with flights, a hotel with breakfast, airport transfers and a North and South Goa sightseeing tour. Planning Goa yourself costs roughly ₹12,000–₹30,000 per person, and much less by train. Goa is made for DIY (rent a scooter or car and go at your own pace) so packages mostly make sense for big groups or if you want a resort deal with flights bundled.
All prices are approximate, per person, for two people sharing, outside Christmas–New Year, when everything costs far more.
North or South Goa?
- North Goa (Calangute, Baga, Anjuna, Vagator, Morjim, Arambol): busier beaches, nightlife, flea markets, cafés and most budget stays. Closer to Mopa (Manohar International) airport.
- South Goa (Colva, Benaulim, Palolem, Agonda, Cola): quieter, cleaner beaches, bigger resorts, more relaxed. Closer to Dabolim airport and Madgaon station.
- Old Goa and Panjim sit in the middle. The churches, Fontainhas and the riverfront are worth half a day whichever side you stay.

- Return flights to Dabolim or Mopa.
- 4 nights in a hotel or resort, usually with breakfast.
- Airport transfers, and one North Goa and one South Goa sightseeing tour by shared coach.

A sample 4-day DIY plan
- Day 1: Arrive; check in near Candolim or Anjuna. Sunset at Chapora Fort.
- Day 2: North beaches by scooter: Vagator, Ashwem, Morjim, Arambol; the Saturday night market (in season) or the Wednesday Anjuna flea market.
- Day 3: Old Goa churches (Basilica of Bom Jesus, Se Cathedral), Panjim's Fontainhas, a spice farm in Ponda.
- Day 4: Drive south: Cabo de Rama, Palolem or Cola beach; fly or train home from Madgaon/Dabolim.
Tips
- November–February is peak season; March–May is hot but cheaper; the monsoon (June–September) is lush and quiet, with most beach shacks closed and the sea unsafe for swimming.
- Carry your licence and wear a helmet. Police checks for tourists on scooters are common.
- Use the official app-based taxis or agree fares before you ride; local taxis are expensive.
- Dudhsagar Falls is best just after the monsoon (October–November); access depends on forest department rules that season.
