Russia e-Visa for Indians

Indians can visit Russia for up to 16 days on the unified e-visa. Fee, how to apply on evisa.kdmid.ru, money and card tips, and a 7-day plan.

Indians can visit Russia on a unified e-visa, applied for online on the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal at evisa.kdmid.ru. It costs about US$52, is single entry, and allows a stay of up to 16 days within its 60-day validity. Apply at least 4 days before travel. The e-visa works for tourism, short business trips, visiting friends and attending events, and it's accepted at most international airports and many land crossings. For longer or multiple-entry trips you still need a regular visa through the Russian Embassy or its visa centres in India.

How to apply

  1. Register on evisa.kdmid.ru (or use the official app).
  2. Fill in the form in English: passport details, purpose, planned dates and the address where you'll stay.
  3. Upload a passport scan and a recent photo.
  4. Pay the consular fee online. Some Indian cards may decline international payments to Russia; try a different card or contact your bank if payment fails.
  5. Download the e-visa notification and print it. Border officers check it with your passport.

Before you go

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you apply.
  • Get medical insurance that covers Russia; you may be asked for it at the border.
  • Western Visa and Mastercard cards issued abroad don't work in Russia. Carry enough US dollars or euros in cash to exchange, or check whether your Indian bank's RuPay or other card works there before relying on it.
  • Hotels register your stay automatically. If you stay with friends, ask them about registration.

A first trip (7 days)

  1. Days 1 to 3, Moscow. Red Square, the Kremlin, the metro stations, Gorky Park.
  2. Day 4, high-speed Sapsan train to St Petersburg (about 4 hours).
  3. Days 5 and 6, St Petersburg. The Hermitage, a canal boat, Peterhof's fountains in summer.
  4. Day 7, fly home from St Petersburg or return to Moscow.

Flights from Delhi and Mumbai to Moscow run direct on some routes, or connect through the Gulf or Central Asia. Late May to early September is the easiest time for a first visit; the white nights in St Petersburg peak in June.
